Ok it’s time for brutal, possibly humiliating honesty. I’m freaking out. I have 10 days to raise the remaining donations for my Team in Training half marathon – over $2,000!
If just 40 percent of my social media followers donated $5 each, I’d be there! All the money goes directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
For those of you haven’t been following my story let me explain. Team in Training is a program where the LLS provides a trainer and the experience of a lifetime – in my case, participating in the Disney World Half Marathon. In return, as a participant, I agree to raise a minimum amount of donations. If I am unable to meet this minimum I must cover the rest. I simply do not have the funds to donate more than I have thus far.
Now before you think I am a slacker, I have tried. I have held three major fundraisers over the last couple months, and I’ve solicited individuals and businesses. I’m up to over $1,500 and am SO grateful to everyone who has helped so far with their time, money, AND support. I’ve logged 79 training miles (despite a training injury) and I’ve felt the positivity behind me with every step.
But now I’m reduced to begging. Please please please help if you can. Give $1, $5, whatever you can. If you are unable to donate, please share share share! Pass on my story and my fundraising page to anyone you know who has been touched by cancer, and specifically blood cancers.
Thanks to efforts like these I got to keep my mother for two and a half years after she was diagnosed, and my friend Brian is a survivor today. Click here for more on why I’m taking on this challenge.
My fundraising page (that’s right, I’m including the link twice) is: http://pages.teamintraining.org/vtnt/diswine12/doingitfordonna#My-Fundraising-Page.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
