My love of all things beauty-related often leads me to try to teach myself new things. Sometimes it’s an epic success, and sometimes a massive fail (see related stories for examples). Next on my list was waxing my own eyebrows.
I went with the Sally Hansen microwavable wax. I just didn’t feel like I was getting it to the right consistency, and after putting it back in the microwave three times, I was done pushing my luck.
I started the process with a tried and true favorite, the Too Faced Brow Envy Kit. I love the stencils – they get me back in line every time when I have been over or under plucking. I use the darker color to do my stencil shape. This color is too dark for me to wear, but it is great for doing the eye shape to pluck around. You can see by the shape of the kit how often I use it – and for a gal who tries new products almost every day, this says a lot.
You can see the stencil colored in below. I started with the wax and it just didn’t feel like I was pulling much up. I could just throw in the towel and get it professionally done, but I’m a control freak about my brows. I keep tweezers in my car, my purse, my bathroom, everywhere. I think I will just stick with the tweezing.
I also tried a new brow product – the e.l.f. eyebrow kit. For $3, how could I not try it?? I was a little leary as I’m used to using a clear gel or wax with a powder or pencil. This kit was a powder and a tinted gel. It actually worked GREAT; it was just too dark for me personally. I would recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone with darker hair or skin beyond ghostly pale
